SURPRISING REALITY
Many of the 143 children (ages 0-12) in our feeding program have never had a birthday party. Imagine, to never have made a birthday wish and blow out candles while your friends and family sings ”Happy Birthday” to you. Imagine, never eating a piece of your birthday cake, or playing with your friends as they take their turns trying to burst open a pinata filled with candies.
Since March of 2010, Envia has been sponsoring monthly birthday celebrations for the children who were born during that month. For several of the children, it was the first time a party has been given in their honor. If Envia could make a birthday wish, it would be to maintain and expand on this simple tradition and continue to bring a little joy and significance into the lives of these young children.
THROW A BIRTHDAY PARTY
Together we can create a space through which we can change their reality. You can do it yourself or you can get a group of people to do it with you: colleagues, relatives, small groups, youth groups, classmates, etc.
When you sponsor a birthday party, Envia will provide you the names and ages of every child celebrating a birthday that month. We ask that you personalize a card for each child on your list. This small gesture will mean the world to him or her. It doesn’t have to be in Spanish. If it’s in English, we will translate it and attach it.
This is a great opportunity for you, your youth group, small group, class, work friends, nieghbors or sports team to do something significant together.
